This beautiful valley is a"happening place" in the fall, as herds of elk gather for the annual elk rut. We made our pilgrimage to see it again this year, and stopped by this gurgling stream at the edge of the meadow. There was a cloud bank hovering over the mountains shaping the magic and reflecting the vivid blue sky it had created. The mid morning sun lit up the lower valley. It skimmed the rocks in the creek bed and reflected the beauty into the water of the creek. In the distance, the haunting call of a bull elk bugling carried on the breeze. It's the call of the mountains. It's the Rocky Mountain high. It is why there are mountains in my soul.
